Man’s Ego

I am a man, why should I revere a woman?
Yet I needed her, for the very breath I draw,
And its called "Life."
I am a man, I can endure all pain—can she?
But I turned blind to her labour of during Motherhood,
her monthly ordeal.
Shuddering to think: what if my own pride bled so freely?
I am a man, and she is a depth I cannot fathom.
Yet, why do I yearn to decipher her soul?
Tell me—does consciousness have a gender?
